Christians and Halloween
Why do many who profess to believe in the Scriptures, and state that they consider themselves Christians, celebrate Halloween? The simple answer is to THEM (not God) it does not make any difference. They will say they see no harm in cavorting about dressed like a devil or a skeleton. They enjoy giving out candy to children and having 'fun' at parties. Adults say they have gravitated to the festivities of the holiday because they can enjoy themselves completely, without feeling 'burdened' by the expectations and responsibilities of other holidays (e.g. Christmas, Easter, etc.). They also do not see anything ultimately wrong with having their children have "harmless holiday fun" through stories involving spells, witches, demons, death, suffering and so on.
What Does God Say About It?
The Bible reveals God's will concerning the world's holidays, especially those like Halloween.
When he (God) destroys the nations in the land where you will live, don't follow their example in worshiping their gods. Do not ask, ‘How do these nations worship their gods?' and then go and worship as they do! You must not insult the Lord your God like that! These nations have done horrible things that he hates - Deuteronomy 12:29-31. See also Deuteronomy 18:11-12.
Halloween is an entirely pagan celebration with no basis in Scripture. God reminds us through the Apostle John not to gravitate toward such worldly holidays - 1John 2:15 NASB.
Simply put, Halloween and its symbols did not originated in the Holy Word of God but with people deceived by the devil to worship false (pagan) gods. The Bible condemns the holiday, and it should be avoided.

Halloween glorifies Satan. It is his high holy day.
Christians should have nothing to do with it?
Despite Jesus' teachings, and the Apostle Paul's admonition to abstain from all appearance of evil - 1Thessalonians 5:22, some Christians celebrate Halloween on October 31, although they do not think so. They celebrate it by having a party or harvest festival with the children dressing up as Bible characters. Their true motivation is for their children to not miss out on the October 31 celebration of Halloween.
If asked, many Christian children would respond, "My church celebrates Halloween by dressing up as Bible characters." The children are honest. They admit they are celebrating Halloween, just differently because they are Christians.
Trick-or-treating, Trunk-or-Treating, a Halloween costume party, decorating your home, or having a Harvest Festival...it is all the same. Halloween (Samhain) is the reason for the celebration! (Notice: Samhain is a harvest festival.) The devil loves to promote deception any way he can. Do not be deceived! Christians have no godly reason to celebrate Halloween.
